Why does AVAST never work when you sign up for a trial?
Why is the only correspondence the one saying your non-existent trial is being converted to a paid version?
Why is AVAST too ignorant to reply to emails?
Why does AVAST have a nonsense telephone number?
Why does AVAST forum let me log in but not use it?
Please forward a list of more reputable companies, but limit the list to 1000.
So getting help from the forum is even less likely than from AVAST itself.
Thanks for the load of garbage you wrote, I shall wait to see if anyone can come up with anything constructive. If not, it will mean a load of free advertising for Avast on Twitter. That is often a good way of getting help.
OK Eddy, in fairness to you that is true - but does not alter the fact that for 3 weeks I have been trying to get help from Avast after signing up to, but being unable to use, a trial upgrade. This is (as others have reported) not a one off issue.
I have only ever had one reply from Avast, and that was not recent. That reply basically said ‘You are from UK, we are happy in selling to the UK but do not correspond further’.
Again, I have had to cancel a trial, as the only thing it did when I downloaded it, was to crash the rest of Avast, including the free AV, which I then had to re-install while awaiting an explanation from Avast - one that I was certain would never arrive.
It makes me wonder whether the UK is just something Avast wishes would go away.
I have to guess here as I haven’t seen (and can’t) what you wrote to avast and what they answered, but that answer sounds really strange to me.
Perhaps they didn’t understood you problem/question correctly.
It doesn’t matter where someone is living.
Support is there for everyone.
As for the trial, I would simply download a trial from the website and use that.
Ofcourse remove the current installed version completely first as well as remnants from other pre(vious) installed av’s.
Eddy, I’m going to give them one last chance to respond. If this doesn’t work, they will be in for a very rough ride!
Over the past 18 months, I have tried to use a few Avast trials.
The outcome has been anything from nothing happened , to causing Avast to crash and the basic AV needing to be re-installed.
On the one occasion you were courteous enough to reply to one of my emails, that reply said ‘You are in the UK - we don’t support UK after purchase’, or something similar.
The ONLY other communications I receive from you are a) offering some trial, or b) saying that my auto-renewal (for something that I had not received) was going live.
I have now tried your forum (copy of this to be posted there too) and look forward to several more months awaiting a response from you.
I’ve just had a reply from Avast Business even though I am not, never have been, and (being retired) probably never will be a business customer.
They again gave me a telephone number but AGAIN stated that telephone help is not available to UK customers.
He suggested opening yet ANOTHER ticket - that would make 11 over a period to the address that refuses to reply. Most of those I have deleted to save space so it seems that Twitter is really my best/only hope.
I shall commence tomorrow, but in the meantime thanks for your help.
Looking on the forum, it seems that almost every post is about Avast’s failings. They are possibly getting too many complaints from US customers, hence no time to bother with those in the UK. They only have time to send out automatic bills to us!!!
Well, people who don’t have a problem are not likely to post it here.
So it only looks as many people have problems while in fact it is only a real small amount.
SOLVED!
3 years ago I signed up to “my avast” and got a ‘do not reply’ message. The confirmation came from a4b@avast , a business set up - presumably to avoid the requirement to offer support to a private customer.
