Avast and HWiNFO (effective clock)

Hello!

Avast is causing a problem with monitoring in the HWiNFO program. Because of the antivirus, the HWiNFO program cannot correctly display the effective clock parameter, which refers to the CPU frequency. The problem is observed on modern Intel processors (in particular i3-13100F and i5-12400). This problem is not observed on AMD processors (Ryzen 5 4600G).

The problem is also observed in OCCT program, which uses HWiNFO libraries.

Avast itself does not react to HWiNFO in any way - no notifications.

Disabling screens or adding HWiNFO to trusted applications does not solve the problem.

Uninstalling Avast solves the problem.

Can you help me with solving this problem?

Hello Andrew,

this is probably effect of Avast HW virtualization. Please try to disable it in troubleshooting settings (reboot is required to apply) till we figure it out.

Yes, disabling “Avast HW virtualization” helps to fix the problem.
I hope you can fix this issue in the next update so that users don’t have to disable this feature in the future.
