AVAST AND IHATESPAM AT THE SAME TIME??

Hi All,

 I recently download the most recent version of AVAST on a friends computer running Windows ME and Outlook Express. She also has IHATESPAM. The problem is IHATESPAM uses 127.0.0.1 as does AVAST. Is there any way to have BOTH running at the same time and if so how do you configure it?? Thanks...Bobby

Most probably, it will be possible.
I would recommend you search a little on IHateSpam help files…

Maybe you should setup everything as if Avast! is not installed:

  1. make yourself sure, that IHateSpam is really running on port 120

  2. in Outlook Express account
    server: 127.0.0.1
    port: 120
    username: mail.anyserver.com&anyuser or any other similar configuration

avast Mail Protection Wizard should be able to configure it automatically. When you run the wizard, close Outlook Express but let IHATESPAM running. The wizard will choose a port number not used by IHATESPAM and will modify your OE account so that the mail scanner will be “between” OE and IHATESPAM.
