Avast and k9 web protection

Hello!

My windows 7 pc would freeze often while on the internet and i would have to unplug it in order . I had avast and k9 on my pc. I noticed deactivating web protection stoppen my pc from freezing. After updating to windows 10 my pc started displaying every now and then a “:(” and saying unexpected error and a long error name ending in bckd.sys, which i know is related to the k9 web filter. I again deactivated the avast web shield, which was again active after updating to windows 10, and the problem stopped.

Now i have a new pc. I had avast, i installed k9, i restarted once, accesed the internet, got the unexpected error ending in bckd.sys, pc restarted, i deactivated avast web shield, restarted again, but on next login wireless was completly gone from settings bar and pc settings.

System restore didn’t do the trick. I’ll take my pc to a service. See what they can do.

Just wanted to tell you guys about the bug so you warn people about it.

I haven’t used K9 in an extremely long time, but doesn’t it also try to redirect traffic to do its job ?

Is fo then there is likely to be a conflict with the web shield, which is using the same sort of function to scan for viruses before they get to your system.

The problem is basically the same as described here :
http://blog.kaspersky.com/multiple-antivirus-programs-bad-idea/

I din’t think it redirects, but anyway this glich is quite annoying and I really think avast should announce before installion the programs it is not fully compatible with.

avast does warn if it finds a incompatible similar application.
But it is ofcourse not possible to test all other applications and add a warning.
There are 100.000.000’s of combinations (hardware/software/settings) possible.

Yeah I know, but there could be a list of reported applications.
