Avast and Sandbox Not Working

I have been using a trial of Avast IS the latest version. I wanted to try the sandbox and set both IE 9 and Firefox to run sandboxed. Firefox ran OK for awhile, but IE Favorites would not work. There was a tab that said Sandbox and I could not click on any bookmark. I unchecked the run in sandbox block, and restarted, but to no avail. The tab remained and I still could not open any bookmark.

As I tried to fix IE, Firefox stopped working and there was a Sandbox tab at the top. I thought maybe I could turn sandbox off with the tab, but no luck.

I ended up removing AVIE and put on Avast Pro. I do not intend to use the sandbox, but wonder why it does not work?

Which version…?? (7.0.xxxx)

I am in the slow group, sorry. The version is 7.0.1466. OS W7.

OK, let’s try this.
ASUS Laptop
Intel Core i3, 4GB DDR3, Windows Home Premium, SP1, 7 64 bit up to date.
I had Norton IS prior to Avast, and use MBAM in real time, and Win Patrol. Using the Windows 7 firewall with no mods.

MBAM and WP shouldn’t be a problem, but you should check Norton…

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AVs.

  1. Download avast! Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
