I have just realised that Avast is stopping Snagit from taking screenshots.
What is the work around for this?
Apart from turning Avast off every time I need to do a screen shot.
Many thanks

If I’m not wrong, David uses Snagit. Maybe he can jump and help.
But I see no reason for that. avast just scan and does not block anything clean.
Which is your avast version? Operational system? Firewall? Other security program that could interfere?
Not a problem for me, I have been using snagit and avast for many years without problem, see image.
As you can see from the file name I have posted thousands of snagit screenshots on the forums without problem.
Aside from the questions Tech asked:
What version of avast (5.0.507 latest) and what version of SnagIt (I’m using 9.1) are you using ?
What errors are being displayed ?
Do you have the SnagIt shell extension enabled (right click menu option) ?
avast doesn’t block but scans and alerts to infection.
Hi folks thanks for the responce.
I was convinced that Avast was causing the issue. If I turned Avast off I could take a screenshot, turn it on and I couldn’t, the shot would be black or garbled.
I have updated avast (didn’t know there was a new version) and all is well…
I read in Snagit support that Nortons seemed to have the same issue which is why I thought Avast might be causing mine.
All is well for now…
Thanks guys
You’re welcome.
Though I would advise you to take not of my other comment as that SnagIt version9 explorer Shell extension cause me no end of grief, where it would lock up explorer and the cursor would move but the mouse buttons didn’t work. So for some time it was a reboot or kill explorer.exe from the task manager and restart it to regain control. It took absolutely ages to find out this was the cause of the lock ups.
Good. Thanks for posting back.
But, as David said, it will be good to check your Snagit installation.
