Avast and Spyware

Hey everyone, I was just wondering, in terms of things like tracking cookies, how good is the detection rate of Avast? Because I am using Advanced SystemCare right now as i just downloaded it from Cnet. It says that I had something like 9,500 security invasions, and then it “fixed them”. However, Avast has never indicated anything, and I have fine tuned Avast to the fullest, to perform extremely thorough scans. So what’s the deal?

Hi Jdonz94,

Welcome to the avast forum,

I don’t think Advanced SystemCare have a similar functionality with avast antivirus in some features.
According to the details information of Advanced SystemCare it most likely same as Ccleaner function which’s designed to clean the cookies and registry from the bad cookies.

Avast is most powerful and designed to detect virus and malware, also protected user from real time attacked.

I hope this would be clearly information for you…but again i am not sure if in the future if avast will added this function.

cheers,

cookie cleaner and system cleanup is already in AVG, so surely will be in avast too.

Avast doesn’t detect cookies because there harmless, use ccleaner to clean up these as well as cleaning the rest of your system at the same time.

My advice: uninstall IObit Advanced System Care.
Why?
Well… I think this thread speaks for myself… http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=68932.0

Oh no… IObit no, no, no…

Why? I think IObit has great products.

Have a nice day. Lep dan.

IOBit as thieve: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=33217

I agree, IObit is not recommended :frowning:

Greetz, Red.

You can find the Iobit, advanced system care removal tool here http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/ number 17 on the list, uninstall from add remove program’s first then reboot into safe mode and run the tool.

I found that link broken. You might try:http://www.uninstallhelp.com/Uninstall-Advanced-SystemCare-01003.html
Or try revo uninstaller which does a solid job.

I have been reading some bad things about IObit Security here, which likely explains the problems I’ve been having with Avast Internet Security and Windows XP. IObit Security 360 and Advanced System Care seemed to work well until I purchased and downloaded Advanced System Care Pro v3 over a week ago. Since then, Windows won’t shut down (hangs while saving settings) and a few times it shut down unexpectedly when I clicked on IE or another program. That problem seemed resolved (but only temporarily) when I disabled certain start-up services (including IObit toolbar).

Another problem was that Avast kept being disabled. I would uninstall it and then re-install it, which again was only a temporary fix. But since I changed some of the settings in Avast, it is working.

The third problem was that my IE browser was being re-directed to MSN (from Yahoo!) and re-set as my homepage, no matter how many times I re-set my homepage to Yahoo. Again, I think changing some settings on Avast have enabled Avast to override this problem.

Some posts on the Avast Forum indicated that IObit conflicts with Avast because they are both AV programs. But, I thought IObit and ASC only detect spyware, delete cookies, and clean the registry. Is IObit, then, actually malware? If so, why did IObit and ASC work fine until I purchased the pro version of ASC? My computer is quicker after I run these programs. Do the programs actually install spyware and tracking cookies which they then detect and repair, so that they appear to speed up your computer?

By the way, I also have Malwarebytes (it has detected some malware and deleting them seems to help for a while; that may be why Avast started working again) and CCleaner. I don’t remember why I installed IObit; I guess my computer was slowing down and so I looked for a backup to CCleaner, and IObit had good reviews. I still have the problem with Windows not shutting down. Are there any settings I can change as a permanent work-around, or is uninstalling IObit and ASC the only solution?

IOBit is not recomended as it is rogue software!

Stay with CCleaner.

Dont know why the link didn’t work for you ??? i just tried it again from here and it work’s fine, i don’t recomend revo! the proper removal tool’s should always be used as revo does not know where program’s place there particular file’s, add remove program’s does a better job at removing thing’s than revo and then you should reboot into safe mode and run the proper removal tool for the product.

Other than iobit’s shady history being a good reason not to use it but you cant run iobit ASC with avast due to conflick’s, plus iobit have shocking detection level’s so i dont know who would give this absolute piece of rubbish av suite a good review but iobit themselves, do yourself a favor a trash iobit
