AVAST and SUPERAntiSpyware

This morning when I started my PC, I received notice from AVAST that C:\ProgramFiles\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntispyware.exe was malware that AVAST identified as "win 32:Trojan-gen(other).

I cannot run my SAS scans as SAS is now disabled.

Please advise. Thanks.

It is a False Positive. I uninstalled my older version of SAS and downloaded and installed SAS version 4.1.1046 and everything cleared up.

  1. as smokethapimp indicated there are a couple of topics relating to this
  2. the latest version of SAS doesn’t have this problem, so you should update
  3. the latest VPS update also corrects this issue, so you need to ensure you keep avast’s VPS up to date.

You guys can call me “smoke” for short.

Thanks…I usually keep up on this stuff, but not this time. :-\

Sorry, for the unnecessary post.

I uninstalled SAS and reinstalled with the newest version as suggested and all is well.

You’re welcome.

There is a wealth of information on the forums and it is more likely that you aren’t the first it has happened to so the forum search tool is very handy at rooting it out.
