AVAST and Windows 10 and windows defender

Hello guys

Here I am again after another BSOD that happened this morning
I’m on Windows 10

Who crashed report goes by :
On Sat 04/04/2020 01:31:39 your computer crashed or a problem was reported
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\040420-18062-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x1C1510)
Bugcheck code: 0x154 (0xFFFFD88572255000, 0xFFFFEB0C3A823F00, 0x2, 0x0)
Error: UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that the store component caught an unexpected exception.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

After searching for a bit, I got in contact with quite a reliable source that advised to run FRST application, for those who know what it is, and it seema after the analysis that AVAST is quite the problem.
Although I’ve readig through quite some forums that AVAST on windows 10 is quite a hassle.

Concerning windows defender, if somone one could explain why AVAST and windows defender are linked ?
I mean if you deactivate AVAST windows defender is deactivated, and if you want to reactivate Windows defender on its own, you have to activate AVAST first.
I don’t remember having this issue when I was using McAfee long ago. AVAST and Windows defender are 2 different entities, even if both of them are antiviruses.

Thanks in advance
Best regards

Defender turns off when you install any third party AV that would include Avast.
Defender turns back on when you remove that third party AV.

Yes so I had to unistall AVAST to see windows defender working again
I’m running my computer without AVAST for the moment, which is quite unpleasant I’m not used to it.

Do you have any idea why AVAST is being a hassle with windows 10?

Thanks in advance

What was on your computer before Avast? How was it removed? What other security programs are installed?
I’m using Avast on Windows 10 and have no problems.

As I said on my previous poll ;D

There was nothing else, no AV program on this computer when I bought it 2 years ago.
I downloaded AVAST cause I had a licence for 3 computers.

Good for you if you have no problems  , alas I’m seeing a lot of people having issues with it on forums with windows 10.
I’ve been a user of AVAST since windows 8, a bit before maybe, never had an issue.

When you received your computer 2 years ago, was there a trial version of another AV?

Nope, I’m gonna check with the manufacturer, I’ll answer you when I receive an answer

OK
