I have a wireless PC and always have, my connection is very good but yet my MBPS ranges from 1-6mbps which is horrible. I tried multiple things, restarting the PC, restarting the modem, unplugging peripherals, changing ports…etc.
Nothing worked, however I disabled Avast! all-together and my connection IMMEDIATELY shot back up to around 78-144mbps. What can I do to tell Avast! not to hinder my connection speed?
try going into Real Time Shields, Web Shield, Expert Settings, and uncheck Use Intelligent Stream Scanning. Works for me on wireless, and you are still protected. I get the same speeds as wired once I uncheck that.
That is one heck of a connection speed. I just tested my speed and it came out 6.48 Mbps which is a bit higher than what I am paying for; i.e. 6 Mbps. Top speed offered by my service provider AT&T is 24 Mbps
