Do you see the reply button below your post? what button do you see beside it ;)

I have the exact same problem.

I’ve reported this problem to Avast.

Just to confirm…

Have you run an Avast repair?

Yes I have - same result.

They do make it difficult to find the Repair button, it is under Change if you right click on Avast in the Control Panel

Full repair didnt fix it.
Uninstall and reinstall didnt fix it either.

I remember when avast let you open tickets in issues and not throw you in a forum…but hey…

Anyway…so Avast people? Little help?

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?

fine.

Avast internet security
Version 17.2.2288 build 17.2.3419.64
definitions 170323-1
64bit win10 and 64 bit office 2016
No other security software installed.

What about others with this issue. There is also another item on the forum describing the same problem.

I have Avast Premier, 17.2.2288 with definitions 170324-0.

I opened a ticket…i find forums lazy and useless for the consumer…if get something i will post it.

Tickets take 1-5 business days.

I reported this issue to Avast already on the dev channel when you started the thread.

You should get a response on Monday.

Office 2016 has been updated by Microsoft recently to version 1702 (in my case earlier this week). Outlook now has a number of problems for those of us using POP3 accounts. The most widely reported is that Outlook searches return no results. The same circumstances seem to affect the Avast add-in, so I think this is a wider problem that MS need to fix. I rolled my Office back to version 1701 (build 16.0.7766.2060); this has restored both Outlook Search and the Avast add-in. Instructions here for anyone who is interested:

Hello,
Can you tell me what is the path to the anti-spam plugin installed in Outlook 2016?
I had the same problem and I removed this plugin and now I can not install it.

Thank you!

The add-in is:

C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\asOutExt.dll

Thank You!

Microsoft have released an update to Office, Outlook at build 7870.2031 that fixes this problem. Harry

Thanks for the info Harry, good to know.

the response from support was, “please update outlook”…

ugh, you know that was the same thing to me as telling to restart my computer.

of course all my updates are on the machine. soooooooo, there is my update.

also, yeah, MS probably broke it up avast should be on top of keeping their products working anyway.
