In response, I just wanted to add my .02 here…
Avast is a very FINE product, IMHO. I have been using different versions of the free AV since August of last year, and so far I have had nothing but positive–no make that pleasantly positive experiences all around. In the few and far between instances I had FP’s or technical problems/questions/etc., Avast support quickly answered my inquiries and/or I easily found an answer by searching this excellent forum. 
So, NO, IMO Avast are NOT Thieving B@$teR*$
