Problem with aswrvrt.sys (Won’t boot)

Win 7 with a version of Avast, not sure which version.
Was rebooting and it came up to the Boot Choice screen with only these options showing no matter which choice you select it will come up “Starting Windows” screen then all I see on the black screen is the mouse cursor. When Drivers are loading it stops on aswRvrt.sys. I have read other threads and I created the ISO file and directed it where to boot from but it didn’t seem to run.

Sorry are you having a problem ? If so can you give more information

I actually got the iso to finally boot off usb. I am currently not in front of the PC with issue so bear with me. When my command prompt screen came up it was in X:\source directory. I tried running the frst file and an error message came up that it was unsupported.

You need to determine the drive letter of FRST

At the command prompt type the following :

notepad and press Enter.
The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
Select “Computer” and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
In the command window type e:\frst64.exe and press Enter
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
The tool will start to run.
When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.

I drive letter is G but when I enter G:\frst.exe error message “The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present.”

I am finally in front of PC.

What happened prior to the non booting ?

From the command prompt could you type the following command :

chkdsk c: /r

Once done try a reboot

I am still getting the same result “The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present.”

My cmd prompt window still comes up as X:\Sources>.

I am not sure your schedule but I should be available tomorrow between 10-12 or in the evening. I appreciate the help…friends computer I convince her to use avast, I have used it for years never an issue!

This is actually indicating either a problem with the drive or a corruption of windows files

We could try a PE type environment and have a look from there. This will give you XP on a stick

Download Peazip to the desktop
Run and install the programme
As it installs this page will show, deselect the AVG ticks
Press decline and it will then install cleanly

Once the USB has burnt then

[*]Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to the flash drive.

[*]Reboot your system using the boot USB you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from USB follow the steps here
[]As the Programme needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads
[
]Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
[]Locate the flash drive and run FSRT
[
]The tool will start to run.

Why are we using XP when the system is Win7?

Disregard last question. I went back to square one and realize PC was 64 bit. I started from scratch and when I booted from USB it actually let me back into pc and I used the uninstall from site. I can not thank you enough for your help! I am glad there are platforms that this to help people like me. Thanks again. ;D

Glad it was resolved, the XP system is a PE type programme running XP it allows access to an otherwise non accessible drive
