So i recently got avast and i cant figure out how to turn on automatic Full/Deep scan like i did with AVG/MSE/Spybot.
Do you mean how to schedule a scan?
FAQ >> https://support.avast.com/
In all honesty with a resident on-access antivirus on-demand scans are greatly depreciated.
If you still want to do it, you will have to create a new scan and schedule it to run.
AvastUI > Protection > Virus Scans > click the Custom Scans - now Create New Scan (and name it) - Select the Full Scan from the drop down list. Now you can customise it and set the frequency.
That first sentence made no sense to me.
But the rest of that was very helpful.
Thank you.
Monthly?
- With a resident on-access antivirus like avast, the need for frequent on-demand scans is much depreciated.
For the most part the on-demand scan is going to be scanning files that would be otherwise be dormant or inert. If they were active files then the on-access file system shield would be scanning them before being created, modified, opened or executed.
. . . Is there a college class i can take to understand the language your using?
Yes English
What is it that you don’t understand ?
All of it really. I’m not very technical minded.
Then you can use google also.
On-Access/Resident scanners scan activity, when access is made to a file (creation, modified, opened or executed) - Most antiviruses are on-access/resident and actively monitoring and scanning your activity all of the time monitoring and scanning your system.
On-Demand Scans - Means that you the user manually run them (or set up a scheduled scan).
So running these on-demand scans when you have on-access scans being done by the installed antivirus, means your active files are/have already being scanned (duplication).
So what other files are going to be scanned by the on-demand scan, effectively the ones that aren’t active/dormant. If for any reason they become active, then the on-access scanner/s would scan them.
This is where my comment comes from - With a resident on-access antivirus like avast, the need for frequent on-demand scans is much depreciated.
