I am using McAfee SiteAdvisor (SA) and WOT with Firefox and IE8. When a search is performed, SA and WOT provide a “flag” (or icon) as to the safety (I guess) of the URL; basically indicating the “good, bad or ugly”. Does Avast AV Free do URL (site) checking when performing searches in the various search engines?
Sorry … that did not answer my query. Webrep is basically an “after the fact” determination of a site’s rating that you visit. What I am talking about is, for example, if do a search for “firefox” using Yahoo search engine, the resulting list has the site reputation/safety indicators from WOT and SiteAdvisor by each of the URLs listed. When searching I want to know what the URL’s rating is before I actually go to the site. Based on what the results are I can then determine whether or not I will click on that URL to visit the site. Basically, pretty much all of the results of a site’s reputation is resulting from input for the various users that submitted data on a particular site. Not necessarily is the site’s reputation solely the result of WOT or SiteAdvisor doing their “homework” to see if that site is good or not. Anyway, I was wondering if Avast does this same thing. It’s not a “most have” thing but it would be a good tool to be able to see a URL’s site rating before going to that site. Thanks.
