Avast avast notification messages are empty? No text! = SOLVED!

SOLVED!

Hi!

I have no information in my Avast scanning notification messages!

My scanning results messages are also empty, just like this…

I have tried changing language and downloading the UK English language pack, but the
problem still exists. I’ve used Swedish and English UI.

I just tried uninstalling Avast, restarting, cleaning the registry with CClean, manually checking
for left over folders, rebooting and finally reinstalling Avast from scratch.

The error still exists! :-\

(And please don’t suggest reinstalling, as I’ve just done that and as properly as I could have.)

Help! :frowning:

Paid Avast Internet Security 2015 - active to 2017
Win7 SP1 64 bit
i5 cpu, 16 GB ram

Competent user
ASUS RT56U router and hardware firewall

PS: I’ve also run a complete Avast boot scan that took more that 24 hours to complete
(I’ve got quite alot of harddrives…) and I’ve just run a similar complete system scan with
Trend Micro Houscall, without finding any viruses or other crap.

  • Which version of AIS…?
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Perform a repair of avast and see if it solves the problem.

:frowning:

Now I’ve got two Avasts in my Add/Remove Program:

I couldn’t find the proper AIS 2015 download and reinstalled the v 5.0 and let that update itself,
which probably was a bad idea…

I can’t affect the v 5.0 entry in any way, not even reinstalling.

I’ve Repaired the v 10.2 one, but it didn’t solve the original problem.

Sorry guys for being daft. :-[ I didn’t see the double enery until now.
You can see thay have todays date and I definately did not have two of them before today!

I can’t see or find AIS 2015 version anywhere.
No other security running during reinstall - but uses CCleaner and Sandboxie (same conditions for this one).
Had no other AV before, as I’ve used Avast forever and am on my 2’nd 3 year licence.

Gonna reinstall now. Not using v 5.0. Have dl a brand new AIS 2015 installer.
Will be offline until reinstall is complete.
Will report back as soon as I’m up running again…

:stuck_out_tongue:

  1. Download Avast Internet Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Thanks for your help, guys!
Your help was instant and massive!

Eddy’s suggestion to Repair Avast made me find the double Program entry,
which made me understand where, and how, things had gone wrong.

A reinstall, using a fresh installer, solved the problem.

All is now well in all four computers I have that uses Avast!

;D

You’re welcome.

Always good to read something is solved.
