When right clicking the tray icon of avast tray icon it moves my cursor to the right. I did quck/deep/preboot + second opinion scans + avg sality remover + autoruns/process monitor (PRE AND POST a clean OS install) and all of these return 0 malware. Is this a bug?
- Which Avast…? (Free/Premium)
- Which version/build of Avast…?
- OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
- Other security related software installed…?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
@Asyn
avast/avg free antivirus latest version (20.10.2442)
I used malwarebytes and kaspersky free antivirus for second opinion scans
Windows 10 pro 20H2 OS build : 19042.685
removed other antivirus software, rebooted, rescanned. The issue persists. I hope it is a bug or intended feature.
First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of any prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:
- Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
- Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
- Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
I did all of this. issue persists. It only happens on avast/avg antivirus. Both of them. other tray icons or other AV’s don’t have this issue(right clicking moves cursor)
update : I tried on another home computer and also asked a friend, the issue is the same so I guess it’s either a bug or an intended feature.
Not seeing it on my win10 system.
Then I am lost. I have no idea how this happens to local computers and one of my friends. Thanks everyone for replying.
Edit : for people wondering, it moves from the green area to the red area from this screenshot.
moves about this much from the tray icon. If I move the tray icon the cursor snaps acording to the new position.
What happens if you don’t stack your tray icons onto two lines or columns ?
Edit: I believe your issue is you have the task bar positioned on the Right and not Below. I tried that and see slightly more movement of the cursor, not not excessive in my personal opinion.
