Avast Behavior Shield High Memory Usage

I’m having issues with the behavior shield in my Avast Premier Antivirus using a ton of memory and was curious if there was a way to fix the problem? I’m using a HP laptop with Windows 10 64bit operatiing system and 8GB of ram with an i5-4200M CPU @2.50GHz processor. Is it safe to disable the shield or is that a bad idea? My laptop normally has only 25% of the Memory being used but since this shield has started to act up it is now using over 40% of the memory. I also have Stopzilla on my laptop to scan for spyware and other malware. Could Stopzilla be causing the behavior shield to act up? I tried to repair Avast but that didn’t help.

Hi wheelchairboy88,

Welcome.

I’d look to remove Stopzilla: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=stopzilla+site%3Awww.pissedconsumer.com&atb=v23&ia=web

Did things get better?

I removed Stopzilla and the Behavior Shield is still using a ton of memory.

You’ll have to be more specific. What is the process that consumes this enormous amount of memory? Please post the name of it and amount of memory it is consuming.

The Process that is consuming the memory is aswidsagenta.exe and it consumes 497.4MB on start up of my computer and the most memory I’ve seen it consume is almost 1GB of memory. Typically when it uses 1GB of memory it will drop back down to about 600MB of memory. Before I had this issue this process typically only used about 100MB of memory and rarely climbed above 300MB of memory. I started having this issues within about 2 weeks of receiving an avast update that I got around March 30th.

Perform a repair of avast and check if the problem is solved.
If not, perform a clean installation and check again.

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

Thank you all for the help. I ended up having to do a clean install of avast to get the issue to resolve but everything is working fine now.

Happy to hear that.
