Avast blocked bubak and bubnix-j, now svchost.exe uses 100% CPU

When Browsing with Firefox (Date 11.9.2010)I got bunch of announcements from AVAST popup, that Bubak and Bubnik-J viruses found. Now there are in AVAST Chest about 35 .sys files from Windows\System32\driver-folder.
Windows XP is now extreme slow in Welcome-window and also later, svchost.exe is using 99% of CPU. Looking closer svchost.exe with PID I found that DComLaunch is inside this svchost.exe occurence.

How to get Windows back to normal?

I had the same issue - I feel let down by Avast. I got these popups about Win32:Bubnix-J[Rtk] and Win32:Papras-T[Trj], with a few dozen Windows system files being tagged for quarantine. I had the same problem with things slowing down so much that Taskbar wouldn’t get to the point of showing the processes. I got a blue screen at Windows login afterwards.

I ended up having to reformat and reinstall Windows… not only that, my Yahoo account’s password was stolen. I got hard evidence that it was such and not email spoofing… I changed passwords and hope that there isn’t more damage than that.

My question is - why didn’t the real-time scanner find this virus? It could have only come from online, and I’d hope the AV would catch it before it infects the computer and causes havoc before the regular scan gets around to finding it. I know that no AV is perfect - but one strike is enough for me.
