Avast blocked process svchost.exe, blacklight.info

Hello all, I found my way here through a Google search. I asked a question in this topic: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=167332.0 but was asked to start a new topic along with my logs.

Here is a brief description of my problem.

I am running Avast Free, and it pops up a warning that it has blocked scvhost.exe which is trying to download a .DLL file from blacklight.info

I have downloaded and run rkill.com but it does not find any problems - yet Avast keeps popping up these messages every time I get an internet connection! Combofix from Bleeping Software does not support Windows 8.1, and there are stern warnings that it may damage my PC if I run it in compatibility mode.

I am running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo X1 Carbon, and using Chrome browser.

I am also unable to find the AVAST logs. There are no *.log files in the AVAST directory, or any of its subdirectories. *.txt shows quite a few files, but I don’t know which one is the log. What is its name?

Attach your basic logs. (MBAM, FRST and aswMBR…!!)

Thanks for your help, Asyn. I have downloaded those programs and run them. Here are the logs.

This forum only lets me post a maximum of 4 attachments at once. Here are a couple more.

The first is MBAM after I clicked the “CLEAN NOW” button.

The second is the log from rkill.com

OK, now you’ve to wait a bit…

Let me know if this stops it

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

That’s great, it appears to have worked! I applied the fix, created the restore point, and the machine rebooted. No more notifications about blacklight.info

Thank you so much!

Any further problems ?

Close to 24 hours after I applied your fix and the warning hasn’t popped up again. So touch wood, it all looks good. Thank you so much.
