Avast Blocking Legitimate Sites and Content

I have used Avast Free for years. Recently, it started to block legitimate content and sites, ex: https://blog.avast.com/. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling three times including using the Avast Uninstall Utility. The laptop in this case is running Vista so it has not had any Windows Updates installed in a long time. Avast Free worked fine on it for months. Please advise. Yes, I know I should scrap it and move on to newer hardware. It isn’t W10 compatible. Thanks.

Known issue on Vista. It should help to disable HTTPS scanning in the web shield.

This has now been fixed, at least for me. A “micro” update has been released to address this - I think it was installed either when the PC was booted or when I updated the virus definitions. Try turning your HTTPS scanning back on to see.

Same problem. Avast blocking access to my company website. Adding url to exclusions doesn’t help, nor does turning off DNS or https scanning. Help, please! We use this site to service our clients!!

Is there a popup message from avast? if so, what does it say

what is the URL

If you turn off the Avast Web Shield, do you then have access?

Dangerous advice from the get-go. Removing protection equals disaster.
We need CECA93 to respond to Pondus’s request.

Sorry :-[ I meant temporarily, just to isolate the problem. But yes indeed, better to diagnose without turning anything off.
