This is fixed by disabling HTTPS scanning in the settings for Web shield. Does this affect my security? Mozilla Firefox & Edge are unaffected (haven’t tested Chrome).
- Which Avast…? (Free/Premium)
- Which version/build of Avast…?
- OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
- Other security related software installed…?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
- Which Avast…? Premium)
- Which version/build of Avast…? 20.7.2425 (build 20.7.5568.600)
- OS…? 64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?) Windows 8.1 Opera 71.0.3770.198
- Other security related software installed…? None
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…? None on this computer since re-installing Windows 8.1 in July 2020 (and before re-install, I used the same Avast Premium)
My question is about the advisability of disabling HTTPS scanning. I assume it is included in Avast for a good security reason.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Have you tried updating to Avast 20.8 that is now available:

I am having no problems with Avast and Opera here with HTTPS scanning enabled.
Thanks. Have updated to Avast 20.8: no change. With “HTTPS scanning” enabled, Opera is blocked.
