Avast Browser is instantly closed when I open it.

Basically it is the same symptom with

this post.

Running from Windows 10. When I open the Avast secure browser, it is automatically instantly closed. This happens from today, and it was fine until yesterday.

Run as admin did not work.
Uninstall & reinstall did not work.

Hello,
could you please share with us your Diagnostic information if that’s possible?

  1. Open the browser and click on the menu icon (3 dots in upright corner)
  2. Click on “Help and About Avast Secure Browser” and then “About Avast Secure Browser”
  3. Click on “Diagnostic Information” (this will open a pop-up window)
  4. Click the “COPY TO CLIPBOARD” button to capture the information and paste it here.

Thank you and sorry for inconvenience caused!

I can’t. The avast browser is instantly closed less than 1 second after I open it. I cannot even attempt to click menu icon.

Perhaps un-installing Chrome, running Malwarebytes to clean up the malware, and re-installing Chrome does the trick.

Hello,
i have the same problem since last week.
I thought possibly the next update will change something, but it didn’t.

It is possible to open the secure browser, but not the banking mode.
The window closing directly, when I try to start the function (any way).

Enclosed you can find my diagnostic data from secure browser outside banking mode:

The Banking Mode problem has been reported to Avast.

Banking Mode appears to work again.

Hello,
the Bank Mode issue still appears when Secure Browser is not set as default browser. We are working on this and the issue will be hopefully solved soon.
Sorry for inconvenience caused and thank you for reporting!

Bank Mode is working for me without Secure Browser set as the default browser. Google is my default browser.

Hello,

I did some tests.
Since I have avast secure browser I always leave edge as my default browser even if I never use it. With edge as the default browser, bank mode does not open, with secure browser as the default browser, bank mode opens and in bank mode, secure browser is used.
With google chrome by default, I just put it for the test, the bank mode opens but it is google chrome which is used in the bank mode. I don’t know if this is normal for google chrome in bank mode, I never set google chrome to default before this test.

I have windows 10 latest build 19045.2364.

It’s a bug that Avast will be fixing. See the following https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=322019.msg1697186#msg1697186

I can confirm the behavior as soon as Firefox is configured as standard browser.
