While it was installed without my consent, I still like Avast Browser, however during past week or so, I came across couple annoyances and few rage inducing issues. This post is for annoyances.
I’m the person, who likes to have multiple Tabs open so I could view/read some of them later + add searching for job and you get 80+ Tabs open. Now, with already established Browsers that isn’t a big issue - their performance varies in that regard, but you can still use every single one of them to 120+ Tabs and you won’t see any big problems apart from hit to performance due to 5600 rpm Hard-Drive getting involved.
My issues with Avast Browser are that you get that hit to your performance way, way sooner - we’re talking maybe 40-50 Tabs, as opposed to like 80 on other Browsers. Plus, after ~80 Tabs, when you open up a new Tab, it does not show up in “Tab bar” alongside others. I did the test - it’s there in the Tab bar (to the right of all others), but it’s beyond that point where you can see it. This is ridiculous - you have a Tab opened - it uses up RAM, but you can not get to it, nor you can close it, because there is no way to click on it. That is a huge issue that need resolving.
If you don’t want to compress Tab Icons in the Tab bar like Chrome and Opera does, do what Firefox does - give us arrow keys to navigate the Tab bar. Or give us a drop down key so we could see all the tabs with their page names, so we could select them easier.
Also, Avast shouldn’t be “Open up on Startup” by default - this is absurd. So if i have ~60 Tabs stored in memory, and the Avast Browser pops up on start up to load them up, how do you think it’s going to affect start up time? Yes, it’s part my fault for forgetting to turn that stupid option off, but really, it shouldn’t be on default regardless of amount of Tabs, when you installed it without users consent.
You Verification is almost unreadable - are you trying to discourage your users from giving feedback?
