Avast Browser Won't Open

I was using the browser without problem until this morning. Now it suddenly won’t open. When I click on it the screen clears for a second and then I’m back to the folder where I have the browser shortcut. Something got messed up on my computer this morning and I don’t know what. I’ve cleared the cache but didn’t help. I went to my Macrium backup, found the browser there, accessed the browser file and clicked on it but the same thing happens. I also tried clicking run as admin but that didn’t do anything.I don’t what could have changed this morning and I don’t know what else to do. What Win 10 setting could being doing this??.

Hi Jen

You could try to repair the browser; How to repair Avast Secure Browser | Avast

Hi,
I’ve just found out that Avast Secure Browser won’t open on Windows 10 N versions without the Media Feature Pack installed!
Hope that helps

Thank you nicolastr but how can I tell whether I have an “N” version of windows10?

Hi Jen47,

On YouTube you can find videos explaining how to check your Windows version.

Here’s an example: https://m.youtube.com/shorts/cnQOKaEDT9o if there’s no N or KN in your Windows edition, you’ve already got the Media Feature Pack.

Here’s a video explaining how to install Media Feature Pack: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DEIj2cZHX4k&pp=ygUdbWVkaWEgZmVhdHVyZSBwYWNrIHdpbmRvd3MgMTA%3D

Have a nice day.

My brownser stopped loading afterr the last Avast update. I tried to repair and it uninstalled, looked like it was installing, and now it is completely unistallled. How do I get it back and how do I recover all my saved links? This is pretty devistating.

Thank you nicolastr. It’s a bit difficult to see what he’s doing in the Youtube. But as I think I’m looking at the right place - Settings-Windows-Specifications-Edition - and don’t see “N” nor “KN ” I expect that means the Feature Pack is there.
