Avast cancelling mid scan

Hi, Today I started a a full system scan and my Avast stopped the scan midway through and returned to home tab, any help would be appreciated.

and you have tried a reboot and new scan to see if it happens again?

or the avast repair option from ad/remove programs … and then a new scan?

Yes I tried that but then Avast crashed and not responding and now I cant close it

any other security programs installed?

you may attach a OTL diagnostic log, then a log expert can have a look inside …

I have Malware Bytes installed as well. I attached the log below like you suggested

No apparent malware there, do you notice the area being scanned when it stops

No sorry, I however ran other scan and it didn’t stop this time

Could you monitor it and if it happens again let me know

Yes I will, thanks for the help

Hi Essexboy. I started a full scan today and it immediately stopped. It went back to home tab and all my shields reset to 0/0

OK lets go for a fresh install of Avast and then work from there

Download Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run aswClear
[
]It will offer to reboot to safe mode … Accept that

[*]Once it has rebooted to safe mode
[*]In the Select Product to Uninstall dropdown choose the version of Avast that is on your system.
[*]Press Uninstall
[*]Once complete reboot your system to Normal Mode
[*]Reinstall Avast

Ok I have done this

Could you now try a scan please

I did a full scan, it worked and there was no threat found.

OK you should be good to go now

Thanks for help Essexboy

My pleasure

Sorry to bother you again Essexboy but my shields have all reset to 0/0 again, I was surfing internet and the network, file, web and script shield all went back to 0/0

Are they counting up again now ? As 2014 no longer does a cumulative count and I am wondering if that element has somehow snuck into the older versions

Yes they start running again straight away, they just randomly reset to 0/0 during sessions sometimes
