Avast causes problems to Microsoft Visual Studio debugging mode!

Hi, there,
I use avast antivirus for more than 10 years. The problem just happened in the beginning of this year.

I am a programmer and use Microsoft Visual Stdio to do my programming work. Several months ago, I found that debug mode no longer works. And finally found that the problem is caused by Avast. There are plenty of discussions about avast/visual studio on the web forum, but I cannot solve my problem at all.

I don’t know what kind of update Avast did recently because I am sure that such a problem didn’t exist last year. (The same problem shows on both Visual Studio 2010, 2013, and 2015) What’s the worse, I cannot simply solve the problem by simply removing Avast. Instead, I need to reinstall my Windows to get the problem solved. I sincerely hope Avast can find the solution or I have to give up using this antivirus software because it disturbs my working seriously!

Hi,
most of us here use Visual studio (2012, 2013, 2015) with avast and we don’t encounter problems. I guess it isn’t caused by avast but if you still think so, please describe problem in more details.

Thanks,

If it really was caused by avast, removing avast completely should solve it and there would be no need to install Windows again.

Hi,
My problem is that when I launch my program under debug mode, The console freezes immediately and never continues.

Now I am sure that the problem is indeed caused by Avast products. Because last weekend I just reinstall windows 10 on my desktop, and Visual Studio 2015 works very well under debug mode. However, today I found that the freezing problem happens again!! After looking up my system, I felt very upset that Avast SecureLine installed automatically without my permission!! It remains the same, however I remove Avast SecureLine, I cannot fix the problem, so I am reinstalling my Windows 10 now.

If you still think this problem is not caused by Avast, please at least teach me how to refuse the automatically installing of Avast SecureLine. Thanks much!

Try to add your compile and build folder to the exclustions or disable autosandbox (deepscreenor how it is called in this release).

Thanks,

Perform a custom installation and not a standard.

I don’t believe SecureLine has anything to do with the problem, more likely another part of avast.
Have you already disabled the shields one at a time to see if it solves the problem ?
If it doesn’t, do as Petr said.
Add it to the exclusions.

Yes, Of course…
Add exclusions and set deep screen, I have tried both of them because they are the common answers that I can find by Google. They don’t work, but thanks anyway.
