Avast + Chrome Youtube = broken internet

For the last 1-2 weeks, if I try and watch Youtube in Chrome while Avast Pro is enabled, after ~30sec-1min my internet connection will crash on my computer. If I run the network troubleshooter it resets the Ethernet adapter and i have network again…until i try to watch a video in Chrome.
If I watch Youtube in IE or Edge it works completely fine. It only appears in Chrome.

HOWEVER - if i right click on avast and tell it to disable all shields, everything works fine!!!

I have completely uninstalled Chrome and wiped all aspects of it, reinstalled, issue continued. I have completely uninstalled Avast (using the uninstaller in safe mode) and reinstalled, issue continues.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I am running Win10 1803, and using Avast Pro 18.6.2349.

  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

I have had malwarebytes antivirus a long time ago, and i installed it after this happened to run a scan (then uninstalled).

Avast is the only AV i have ran on this installation of Windows.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Pro Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

I have done both of those already. doing the steps like that.

Did you follow the instructions to the point…!?

I fully uninstalled both applications previously following recommended steps, rebooted, ran Ccleaner to clear up any registry issues, checked the file paths to confirm they were gone, and then installed Avast again. the problem persisted.

The problem began when Malwarebytes was not even installed on this comptuer and had not been for multiple months beforehand.

OK, follow instructions: https://support.avast.com/article/33/

just completed, file ID: EOQ6H

OK, as you use a paid version contact support and report it there.
