Avast Complete Scan Restart?

Part way through a complete scan, my desktop restarts and loads to password to sign in. not a crash, not a BSoD, my computer behaves as though I clicked ‘Restart’ and that’s what happens. However this means the full scan is not happening, as it starts from the beginning when I give it another try.

Recently used Malwaye Bytes Full scan to see if something it could find is causing this interrupt and restart. Nothing popped up as an issue. I’ve also updated the Avast! free Version along with it’s definitions.

Suggestions on how I can get the full scan to complete without that part way through complete desktop restart?

I’m a newbie like yourself but i’d run the MS Malicious Software Removal Tool if you’re using a Microsoft system. If that shows nothing check your Power Options from >Start >Control Panel or whatever the equivalent is on your system. If nothing looks wrong there try a Boot Scan.
Not an expert opinion but it’s a start until someone knowledgeable :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ chimes in.
