Avast Crashing

Hey folks! I had a problem with Internet Explorer today where it went into an infinite loop of crashing soon as I opened the window. I assumed the wonderful Microsoft corrupted itself so I did a system restore. After the restore internet explorer still crashed, and as an added bonus, my Avast Internet Security Pro was disabled and unable to turn back on! I downloaded Spybot cause I was starting to get suspicious. It found quite a few things, and after that was said and done my internet explorer starts magically working again! Except now I have a new problem of getting Avast to work again.

I finally had to go into safe mode and completely delete Avast. Then I loaded as normal and reinstalled Avast. Except now when I have it load my subscription status, it starts to update, and then it says “a program is attempting to shut down avast” “click yes or no” I click no, I want it to update and put in my subscription. Avast then promptly crashes, and reloads. I am doing a full system scan but I have a feeling it is going to come up clean.

What do I do to get my subscription back working again?

Thanks
Ranic

1/ System Restore without disabling Avast self-defense corrupts the install. Do not do this.
2/ At the risk of stating the obvious, have you tried to click YES instead of NO?

Ahh crap. Yeah I just did a full system scan an 0 infected files found.

I only ever told avast no I don’t want to shut down, I never said yes.

How do I fix this?

At the risk of stating the obvious again, have you tried to click YES instead of NO?

Also I went into full safe mode and deleted avast, exited to normal boot-up of windows. and reinstalled it still crashes, so this isn’t the problem. I had a completely fresh install of avast and it still shuts down.

I will try clicking yes later. Forget this program, I will just be moving to AVG. Thanks anyway people

Well, yes… moving to another program in indeed much easier than to click a YES button. Have a nice day.

hi ,

after update this am, now 1026-2, ie9 wont run unless disable avast internet security. all was ok yesterday. also saw similar complaint in feedback this am.i suspect you will see many more similar complaints today.

vista 32 bit, avast 2014-9-0-2006, private firewall

I removed two posts of this thread. And will continue to do so if it lost control again.

At the risk of stating the obvious but your sarcastic replies are hardly helpful and forthcoming.

Have a nice day.

When you do a clean install do you use the latest avast uninstaller?
You will find it here.
When prompted to reboot into safe mode click “yes”.

Also get rid of SpyBot S&D and use MalwareBytes instead.
