Im in a public internet in Mèxico (please forgive me if my english is not the best) and the instaled avast in the pc running in windows xp home edition had deleted several folders in my usb disk. The scanning detected a troyan in every deleted folder and answer me about delet the infected files one by one and I say yes one by one. But, when I open my usb disk I saw not only the infected files has been deleted but the entire containig folders has been deleted without option for recover them. What kind of joke is that one??? Im very angry. Very importants files has been deleted without my permission. >:( >:( >:( Can any one say me how to recover mi files? Is very important to me. And what about the avast develop team? What do you say? Why your program deletes other files not requested to deletion? What do you think to do about that? Please send me any answer or solution to my mail.
Hi DAVIDDAVID, I am sorry to hear about your trouble, but first may I suggest that you remove your email address from this post as leaving it here will only get you a lot of spam.
Avast! didn’t delete your files without your premission… you simply misunderstood what you were doing when you allowed Avast to take the action that you allowed it to take.
You might be able to recover your files if you go to this web site → http://www.undelete-plus.com/ ← and download their product. It is free and it has worked for me.
Good Luck.
Wendy
Normally the correct action would have been “move to the chest” . However on a public computer, “no action” would have been my choice, then have the files checked on a private computer.
You should ask for further help with the public cyber administrator.
The cyber seems to be using avast Professional (as it should) and it is configurated to ‘deleted’ infections.
Indeed it’s not the best solution. If the administrator set avast to send files to Chest, you could ask him to recover them for you.
Also, don’t post your email here or it could be ‘stolen’ by robots and you’ll receive a lot of spam.
