Avast detects multiple URL:Mal

Hello,

I think my laptop is infected with malware. Avast is detecting ‘URL:Mal’ infections every 1 min or so. The infection started after downloading a song from a music website.

I have read the following post https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 and attached the logs as directed.

Would you be able to assist in cleaning my laptop please?

Many thanks,
Karl.

I have tried to get one of the malware removal specialists to take a look at your logs.

Hi there, the first thing you must do is uninstall Chrome, you can re-install once we have finished

CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

It is now almost 11:40pm in the UK, so essexboy is likely to be off line now - he should be back on line tomorrow and follow up on your new logs.

No worries. I’m from the UK myself. Much obliged for the help. I’ll check the post tomorrow.

You’re welcome, that’s me for the night also.

Could you now re-install Chrome (if you want it) and let me know how the computer is behaving

Thanks. I have reinstalled Chrome and don’t seem to have any issues. ;D
