I came in today to find several of my Avast shields disabled. Having not manually turned them off I found this unusual. Telling Avast to restore all shields (from the try icon) failed. On opening the full interface I found that there was a DISCOUNT RENEWAL ad in the lower half of the screen. When I clicked the restore all shields from this page ALL SHIELDS RESTORED to their working state.
IF, and I say if because I am not absolutely sure this was the case, IF I ever discover that AVAST disabled my shields to draw attention to a MARKETING AD - I will dump AVAST so fast - and make it known far and wide why - that it will make my processor “flinch” at the rapidity of the action.
I am a paying customer (not a free user) and any company that would/could compromise my machine security for an AD would not be worth doing business with. AGAIN, I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS THE CASE AND - FOR THE TIME BEING - AM ASSUMING THIS WAS A FLUKE. IF NOT, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
This is all I am going to say or do on this subject at this time. PERIOD.
