Recently I’ve noticed that sometimes If I leave my laptop turned on while not actively doing anything Avast will do a Smart Scan unprompted, It’s not a scheduled scan as I’ve set the scan time to 11:25, and today It done it at 20:08.
I don’t think It’s malicious because you know, It’s an Anti-Virus. But It’s still rather weird.
Personally I feel the Smart Scan isn’t of much practical use.
Why I hear some scream:
- With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
I would suggest setting it to run Manually, see attached image, click to expand.
