I work in the Healthcare industry for a software suite in the Support department which has been around for 20+ years. This week starting early Monday morning we were flooded with calls with problems in functionality of our software. It took all day to get to the root but the common denominator was AVAST. A lot of the sites own AVAST pro and also the server version. We had to have the sites uninstall the AVAST and have them run a repair on the clients to fix the problem. I would like to learn what we can tell the sites instead of don’t use it. I actually use AVAST on my personal computers and have not had issues. There were exclusions set for the 2 directories we use but that seem not to work and even turning off AVAST did not fix the issue. Any suggestions for these sites?
That seems like a poorly run administration if they just roll over a new version of a software without testing it first with their proprietary software used by the organization/company.
I guess avast say Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] = suspicious
You can upload files and report issues to avast here : http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php (select subject according to Your case)
You can use mail
send to virus@avast.com in a password protected zip file
mail subject: False Positive / undetected sample (select subject according to your case)
zip password: infected
or you can send files from avast chest

The main question is - what exactly is happening? Is avast! reporting some infection? If yes, what does it say?
The sites have had AVAST for a long time so they did not do anything new without testing. The software manufacturer does not test with all the AV out there. There are no notices of an infected file. We are guessing that the updates to the software were somehow interfered with. I need to recommend that they try some settings. If the Medical Software does updates via the internet is there a way they can exclude checking from a known site?
