avast don't repair any infected file

Hi there,

Can anyone help me to solve this problem. avast detects infected files but don’t repair (clean) them. when i choose the ‘repair’ option it displays ‘the file cannot be repaired (42060)’ i am left with no other choice exept sending the file to virus chest. it do it with every file no matter which virus has infected that file, even most common viruses cannot be removed.

i have program version 5 with up to date virus definitions.

just give us some examples… not all viruses (file infectors) are well cleanable and if you’re trying to clean trojan horses then you must obviously fail, because there’s nothing to clean on them (thay can be only removed)…

Trojans generally can’t be repaired, because the entire content of the file is malware, so it is either move to chest or delete, move to the chest being the best option (first do no harm). When a file is in the chest it can’t do any harm and you can investigate the infected warning.

Only true virus infection can be repaired, e.g. when a virus infects a file it adds a small part to it, provided that infection/file is one that avast’s repair routines covers can it even attempt to return it to its uninfected state.

However, for the most part so called viruses, trojans (adware/spyware/malware, etc.) can’t be repaired because the complete content of the file is malicious.

So as Maxx asks, if you have some examples, Malware name, File name and Location, e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
