Hello
Recently I downloaded the latest version of avast. I have
been using avast for years. This is a new laptop Lenova
Idea Pad Z565 running win7 premium.
Unfortunately I have encounter a problem with exe. the program?
the download went OK but when I click on the Icon of avast I get this message
"The application has failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect
please see the application event log or use the command line > sxtrace.exe
I have never encounter this before. I have tried too download seveal times and receive the
same message. I am trying for the free antivirus download.

- You need to install MS Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable.
You need 2008 SP1 - this is the one:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update
Note in the above link there are 64bit versions there (IA64, x64) ensure you get the correct one for your OS (x86 32bit OS, x64 64bit OS)
