AVAST Driver Updater Big Problem

I am using windows 10 on an old Dell 8300 system

Driver updater identified 5 driver updates. I created a restore point prior to the updates.
Ran updates the rebooted.

The display adaptor was completely disabled. God knows what has happened with the others.
Ran restore thinking it would return me to the point prior to the updates. Alas, not to be. No change to the mess I am in.

I thought Avast must have backup of the old drivers just to mitigate against this problem occurring. I cannot find and backup.

The Opera browser crashed and I tried reinstalling. Does NOT reinstall.

My virus protector/firewall will NOT open.

I tried looking for C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Driver Updater\dulogcollector.exe but could not find it.

I need help desperately

Reported to Avast. Let’s see if that helps.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your issue.
Could you clarify if you followed these steps: https://support.avast.com/en-gb/article/Troubleshoot-Driver-Updater/
Please note that Avast Driver Updater can only restore driver versions that were previously updated by Driver Updater.
Do you have an XPS 8300 or Dimension 8300? To fix the issue you can install the drivers directly from dell https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk/product-support/product/xps-8300/drivers
If you have a paid subscription you can contact Avast support directly via https://support.avast.com/en-gb/contact/paid
dulogcollector.exe has been replaced by the Avast Support Tool located in C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Driver Updater\

No - I cannot see the Avast Driver Updater on my desktop

I, also, do NOT see the Avast Support Tool in the Avast folder

Unless your installation is totally messed up, it’s there:

Confirmed.

Thanks I found it

File ID is I7KYP

What happens next??

You should hear back from Avast in a few days.
Remember, the weekend is now here.

Thanks again

Well, I tried
I gave the Avast tech people remote access to my computer and after an hour (and three different contact people) they have failed miserably
Avast broke my computer and they cannot fix it
Avoid the driver updater at all costs

Hi,

First of all let me sincerely apologize for all troubles associated with usage of our product.
This is not intentional behavior.

We received your debugging package and we will take a look at it more closely to find out what was the root cause, how we could fix that and make sure that it won’t happen again.

I will get back to you when we will have any updates.

Thank you.
