I’ve just installed Driver Updater for the very first time, clicked on “Update all” and… things aren’t looking good (screen looks wonky, all stretched out, for starters).
1. Open Avast Driver Updater and click See Overview.
2. Click on the panel of the driver you want to restore to a previous version.
3. Click Driver versions in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
4. Click Restore next to the driver version you want to restore.
5. Click Restore to confirm.
Which I attempted to do. But, no “See Overview” anywhere. Same goes for “Restore”.
So. Can you provide me with an easy (aka stupid-proof) solution to cancel the whole thing, Avast pros?
If by Cacel you meant uninstall then simply uninstall the program in programs and features.
If you mean roll back all drivers updated by the app, then either do each roll back manually or,
There was a restore point created before the updates. Roll back and the updates should be history.
I’ve reported a problem to Avast that apparently, the
function to restore the old driver withing the program does not work.
Actually, the function appears to be missing.
Restore option is available only for drivers which were installed by our product. That means we cannot restore drivers which were installed previously by either the operating system or some other 3rd party software.
In case something went wrong you can either try the malfunctioning driver in the list of all drivers and revert it there (in the driver details) or you can navigate into the backup folder where are stored all the previous drivers so you can install them manually if neccesary.
Unfortunately the list of all drivers is currently sorted in alphabetical order which is not ideal when you are looking for the currently installed drivers. We know about the problem and we are trying to resolve that. Feel free to contact our support in case you would need a hand with reverting the malfunctioning drivers, also we would appreciate more data about such cases so we can fix them.
With that being said, could you please provide us with the logs package so we can investigate what went wrong in your case and fix that?
You can simply send them by executing our log collector utility from this path C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Driver Updater\tulogcollector.exe and once the logs are collected they will be automatically send to our server.
Once it is done, please let me know which email address you have used there so we can join the logs with your report here.
Go to your device manager and click on the particular driver or drivers that are giving you issues. Right-click → properties → driver → rollback driver. This worked for me!
First of all let me sincerely apologize for all troubles associated with usage of our product. This is definitely not the intention behavior.
In order to be able to help you I would like to ask you to send the log files so we can investigate where the problem is.

I read all the posts in this forum, but nothing seems to be working for me. I purchased AVAST Driver Updater and I unfortunately have a similar issue. Yesterday (Dec. 13, 2021), Avast updated my USB drivers and my USB ports aren’t working anymore… My PC is now useless because I can’t login (no mouse or keyboard will work on my 8 different USB ports).
I have Windows 10, so I am unable to boot in Recovery Mode because I need a working keyboard. I don’t have PS/2 ports either (to plug in an old mouse or keyboard)…
So far I managed to go in the BIOS (because the keyboard works before Windows kicks in). I then tried a bootable USB drive, but none of the Troubleshoot options are working… I managed to open a cmd prompt with my bootable USB drive. From there, I removed manually some USB drives, but it didn’t do any good… Now I was thinking of launching the last AVAST Driver Updater backup, but I’m not sure where to find this file and how to launch it manually from a CMD prompt. Can someone help me?
I don’t know how to attach a file, but I took a picture of the following directory if it can help: …\Program Files\AVAST Software\Driver Updater\BackupStorage

It seems that you got an incompatible USB driver which basically disabled your mouse and keyboard.
You need to restore the Windows to its previous working configuration using the Windows System restore point we create with every driver update action.
However, achieving that without a mouse or keyboard is a bit tricky but not impossible.
Please try to follow this steps to get it fixed:
Start PC, just as the manufacturers logo disappears and Windows attempts to load, press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down
Do this twice
On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment
Select “Troubleshoot” option to access Advanced options
In Advanced options menu select “System Restore”
Select last system restore point you will have there and that should resolve the issue
Please let me know if it worked for you or not, otherwise we would need to find another way to help you.
Thank you for the quick reply. I did not succeed in booting into the “Recovery Environment” in the suggested way (by doing two hard shut downs). I eventually succeeded by crashing my machine (unplugging the power during a reboot), but that didn’t work either. My mouse and my keyboard were still non-functional…
So I opted for an even more drastic solution. I removed my hard drive from my PC and put it in an external case. I plugged this case into a laptop that I borrowed. I modified the BIOS of the laptop to boot from the hard drive of my PC. From there I managed to start Windows and use the laptop keyboard to log in. I then restored the Windows Restore point that had been created.
I am writing to you from my PC, now that everything is plugged back and is working again. I lost several hours due to this update of Avast Driver Updater. I will no longer use this software… Is there a way to get a refund?
I am truly sorry for what happened to you and I fully respect your requirement for a refund.
Since I am not able to help you directly I already passed your case to our support and they will contact you in order to refund your product.
Once again let me apologize for everything you had to go through. It is quite the opposite of what we are trying to achieve.
