Just replaced MSE with Avast. My email accounts in Thunderbird popped up requests for security exceptions…or no email. I completely turned off email scanner and that problem went away. Is there some intermediate setting that will provide scanning of attachments without messing with the server connections?
Thanks for any help you care to provide.
I had avast and thunderbird on another pc and there was a very complicated procedure involving disabling encryption in the email. I would rather go back to MSE than go through that again.
I experimented with using custom email sheild settings to to turn off just inbound or just outbound email…test emails still failed…turned both outbound and inbound off and left newsgroup on…so far no more email blocks. Since I don’t do newsgroups through email that won’t be a problem. This solution avoids the ugly red X on the Avast icon in the system tray indicating somethings seriously wrong. So I’ll rely on the email providers and my own common sense to check attachments and links.
Hi MrToad
I am not exactly sure about your problem, but maybe this can help you ?
