When I d/l the Avast External Control (latest version) from:
http://www.excessive-software.tk/
Avast detects it as being infected with win32:trojan-gen. {vc}. I’m using the latest Avast Home with def’n 443-0
Is it a false positive?

I just went to open Rejzor’s power Defragmenter.exe and got the dreaded sound. It says I have Win32:Trogen-gen.{VC} in c:\unzipped\Power Defragmenter. I assume it is a false positive judging by all the posts with this trogen named. I moved to chest and deleted file to be safe. If it is a false positive I will reload Rejzor’s fine p[rogram.
Edit: And one just popped up in External Control, too.
And the bonus question for this week… Was someone already that smart to notify Alwil? ;D
Aren’t they reading the forum? ;D
It’s a false positive… RejZoR’s application is not a virus for sure… He will be sad (or angry) to know that this happened. :-\
It appears that this issue is based on Setup Factory core component that is used in all my applications. I’ll contact Alwil guys asap to fix this issue.
The fix is being worked on… stay tuned.
I received this virus on the 17th and notified “a”, with no response. Have done just about everything under the sun. Am running xp2ed, and current avast4 pro with current update and Virus database. Still cant remove, repair, delete. Chest wont take them. :oPS- there are 5viruses that I have been battling.Trojano-305, trojan-gen(vc), troj-gen (other), Adware-multimo.dll(trj), KLEZ. Was able to remove KLEZ. All located in systemvolInf\spybot s&d_restore_ files. Been to site after site but the damn things keeps popping back up on re boot. :-XRancid little bitch. Slowing my system by the second. HELP!!! Is it better to just wipe the system and call it a salvage mission? Appreciate your advise.

P.S.: Disable system RESTORE and reboot, then rescan with avast
Did you clear out the recovery files in spybot?
Try rebooting into safe-mode and running your scanners.
And in Windows Explorer go to folder options and check the “show hidden files and folders”
