Is it normal to see Avast firewall constantly blocking svchost.exe? This event happens about 35 times per minute.
This is after a fresh install of Windows 8 on a desktop. My Windows 7 laptop doesn’t have nearly as many svchost blocks. Both machines have Avast with default settings and network set to “Public”.
Well I don’t know why it is being blocked, but it isn’t too usual that svchost.exe would be legitimately accessing the internet, windows update is the only one I’m aware of.
So we do see a lot of instances of malware using svchost.exe to visit malicious sites to download more malware.
Have there been any other avast alerts ?
I don’t use AIS so I’m not to familiar with it, but looking at your image, it is saying that the Remote address is a local network address and the local address is related to a UPnP device.
This all seems to be local activity and because you have avast set to Public (which is strict) these are getting blocked, it may well be best to set it to Home.
