I want to use avast’s inbuilt firewall in the “ask mode” but it keeps switching to “smart mode” on its own. I use glasswire and I noticed network traffic from all apps, even after switching to “ask mode”. That’s when I realized the avast firewall has a BUG.

I just installed the latest version yesterday June 7th 2024.
First I don’t use Glasswire, so I have no idea of exactly what it does. However, I think this is classic conflict, you have two firewalls effectively running at the same time.
This is somewhat like two antivirus programs running at the same time.
This is why when you Install Avast, Windows disables the Microsoft Defender antivirus element.
I don’t know if Glasswire, also monitors network traffic, in which case there could be conflict in that area also.
The issue was the online installer, I don’t know what files it installed, coz I reinstalled avast with offline installation files, and it now works.
Am not premium glasswire user, so I can’t even turn the firewall part on. See:
