Avast! Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport

Have had a problem with the driver for avast! Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport since May this year. Every time I go on the computer it tries to reinstall the device driver - and fails.
I tried following suggestions for Windows 7 when someone had this problem in 2013 but it didn’t work.
There is a ‘searching for device driver’ and then ‘device driver software was not successfully installed’

Elsewhere I found ‘error 18’ - but not being computer savvy I have no idea what that means.

What does the Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport do?
Do I need it?
If I need it then how do I fix this problem?
I’m paying for avast! security, not using the free download, so feel rather disgruntled :confused:

Download the latest drivers for your network card/chip and install them.
This should (could) solve the problem.

But it won’t download them! That’s the problem!

I tried doing a manual download but it wouldn’t work and I don’t know why :-\

Did you even go to the card/chip/motherboard manufacturers website ?

I’m fed up with not getting any help. I AM NOT COMPUTER SAVVY so you might as well be writing in Dutch, or Swahili.

This week is the anniversary of my husband’s death, some fool of a decorator put a screw in a central heating pipe so not only do I not have a bedroom decorated, I have a wrecked living room. I need a plasterer, electrician and plumber who I can trust…

…it would help if my computer worked properly but it seems that I don’t understand enough to understand when someone makes a very oblique (to me) comment.

PS If you’re in any doubt, I’m at my wits end!

I’m not even near your system, so I can’t do it for you.

If you understand what needs to be done, find someone who does and let him/her do it for you.
