I have up to date Avast Premier.
Two weeks ago, I could no longer send printing to my Canon MG 7150 printer.
Now I have established that if I turn the Avast firewall off my printer functions normally.
I have looked on this forum and the “cures” suggested don’t appear to be for Avast Premium. For example they refer to going to Tools which I don’t have on my Avast menu.
Can someone provide assistance based on the current version of Avast please.
Thanks
Eddy

Set a exclusion for the printer software and it should work.

I think you’ll find the issue relates to what network profile you are using as Pondus has mentioned.

When quoting you should put your response after the quote tags
Like this
Is your firewall / network profile in Puplic or private mode?
How do I find this out?
Firewall - Network profiles >> https://help.avast.com/en/av_free/12/settings_fw_profiles.html
If I go to Firewall via Settings > Components > Firewall > Customise I only have the following options Default rules, Preferences and Packet Rules.
===========================================================
Does this help? If not, someone that use the firewall need to guide you and find that setting

My apologies Pondus. As you might guess, I am new to this forum lark and I wouldn’t need to be here if I didn’t have a problem.
Having apologised, perhaps someone could now answer my questions please?

Just open Protection (left-side pane) → Firewall and you will see the “Current network” and it’s Firewall profile.

Igor,
Thank you for your help. I can see that the current network is my router’s network and that it is set to Private.
What should I do next?

Does this help? … turn off port scan
Avast UI → Protection → Firewall → Settings → Advanced → Uncheck “Enable automatic port scan detection”

Thanks.
Unchecking “Enable automatic port scan detection” appears to work.
I will monitor the ability to printout over the next few days before I’ll breathe easily again!!
If I get any problems I will let you know.
Once again, my thanks
