Avast! Come on guys, I’ve been selling your product to hundreds of clients for years but this new version has caused me nothing but pain.
I’ve seen other posts about people saying they are allowing ports but the applications are still being blocked. I’ve tried using a range to open ALL Ports even and a few apps wouldn’t work (e.g. Fonality HUD on port 5222).
The only way to get these apps working is to completely disable the firewall under “Settings > Active Protection” which it then TURNS ITSELF back on after you restart. That makes no sense. I read this was supposed to be fixed in version 2007 but Im using 2008 and I have a client wanting a refund on 5 licenses because of this crap!
The only fix I can offer my clients is to Uninstall Avast pro and install Avast Free without the firewall! Please fix!
I’m having problems since I did the last update. Constant reminders that there is a problem and the exclamation mark appears. Basically the firewall is off and I can’t turn it back on. My program is 2014.9.0.2008 131128-0. I cannot get the rules to change and as I pay for my Avast I am not impressed. So what do I do now?
This is still issue in Avast Internet Security version 11.1.2241.
Among other apps, I am running Xlight FTP server and I tried everything (I am advanced user (of Avast) for years) and Avast just don’t take into account application rule (allowing all ports on all connections), it keeps blocking it (and reporting that same .exe file from Application rules under Firewall logs as blocked). The only way is to turn off the firewall.
