Avast firewall window can't be focused

EVERY time i launch an app or game, that needs to connect (firewall set on “ask”), the firewall window prompt is impossible to focus.

alt tab, the windows button to go back to the desktop, changing screens (dual screen), opening this or that, closing … NOTHING works.

Only solution so far is to shut down whatever i launch, autorize on the firewall i can NOW see, and then launch app or game again.

Looking for other firewalls rn just because of this. 25 years ago on a GAME we had ANCHORS for windows to move them around. How is this not a thing on avast ? why can’t i alt tab to it ?

Is it actually the Firewall that is the issue, a screen shot of the avast window might help.

It could also be the Network Inspector check those settings also.

Hard to screenshot when the problem is “i can’t access”
Basically step by step

  • launch game
  • screens goes black to load the game
  • ding ding ding avast requires my input : autorize connection or not ?
  • i can’t see that window, i can’t say yes or no or whatever since i can’t access the avast “allow or block” window, alt tab or else don’t show me the window
  • i then close the game
  • finally can access the window

You have to access those from the Avast UI > Menu 3bars > Settings > General > Protection - Network Inspector.

okay i see that it’s hard to explain with words, especially with words so close like window and windows.
because it has nothing to do with the network inspector. no new device is connecting here, no new network is detected.

When you launch a game for the first time, that needs access to internet, avast firewall will prompt with a “allow or block” window. And i can’t access that window as i should ( alt tab to it ). When i try to alt tab to it, it stays behind the game. When i hit the “show desktop button” on win10 taskbar, i still can’t see it, even if i THEN hover on it’s icon in the taskbar, it shows but can’t stay on screen for me to click either “allow or block”.

Hard to believe i’m alone on this, since the solution must be something like “firewall alert window always on top” or something like that…

I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
Essentially you have to access this outside of when Avast is Active and you are actively using the computer that would generate these notifications.

That is why it has to be done via the User Interface and not via the screenshot that you have posted.

Now I don’t use any application that would require the use of a UDP port. So I had to look it up.

UDP is a connectionless protocol, meaning it doesn’t establish a connection before sending data. This makes it faster than TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) but also less reliable, as there’s no guarantee that data will be received in the correct order.

Given the above I’m unsure of how the Avast Firewall or Network Inspector would handle this given the above quote from a google search on UDP port.

Given that UDP Ports are numbered from 0 to 65535, even if UDP Port 27044 were allowed there is no guarantee it would be the same port the next time.
