Avast for Android?

Sorry if this has been covered. Did some searches and couldn’t find anything substantive.

Is there any plan to release an Avast! version for Android? The choice of AV software on the OS is very limited at this point, and I’d love to see one from Avast!. I’d definitely pay for it!

Dear All,

As for additional information that Norton from Symantec will release Norton for Android OS as soonest as possible, please refer to this link :

This technology will followed by Kaspersky :

cheers,

Thanks for that. I have no interest in either Norton or Symantec, because I like AV software that allows my OS to continue to function

However, haven’t heard of Kaspersky. Got a bit of a ho-hum review on a couple of sites for their PC version, but all seemed to feel it had minimal impact on performance while giving decent security. Any personal experience with it?

I’d much rather pay Avast! for a decent suite though. Avast! consistently scores well on all counts, and being a member of the OS community, I much rather throw my support their way.

Here’s to hoping that Avast! is working on an Android solution!

Hi Damobius,

Please don’t miss understanding me, what did i shared was only to show that some AV engine was developing their engine to support Android OS and to encourage avast software also to develop avast! for Android OS too.

Here’s the new article relating with Android infected :

cheers,

We are all hoping that Avast will pick up in this market area. In the meantime, there is a new thread in this forum: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=65103.0 that may help you with your concerns. Thank you.

I’m currently considering a Samsung Gem, I want avast to be my AV. It would actually be worth paying for. I’m hoping the Linux backbone will keep me somewhat secure though. Avast barely support linux though, I do wish they would expand a bit.

Here’s again new information about Zeus which published by trendmicro which’s can infected blackberry, symbian, and windows mobile : http://www.detikinet.com/read/2011/03/09/143912/1587868/323/blackberry-terancam-program-jahat-zeus/

I hope we can see avast in there…

Here’s avg for android. My unckle uses it: http://www.avg.com/us-en/antivirus-for-android

Thank you for posting. We are aware of the other security AV, however Avast will be putting out smart phone AV shortly. You may want to also keep posted on the latest news in the thread listed in the quote below. Thank you.

I downloaded this now and checked my mobile and It says that it’s clean ;D

@ Dim@rik,

Any mobile news may be posted in this section of the forum for Smartphones:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=65103.0. We look forward to your contribution (go to the end of the thread to contribute current/updated news). Thank you.

if the poster wants to and agrees to do so only… you created this section yourself, as a user, and there’s no official rule that forces anyone to post mobile stuff in that thread. I do so off and on because I find it convenient, nothing else. But that’s up to the appreciation of each to do so or not. So there’s no such thing as “should” be posted etc…, thanks

Previous post was edited. No offense was meant and a matter of language.

I really hope avast chooses this market to develop on. I have been using avast for quite some time now and have been utterly satisfied by the service. And now gaining another gadget, with the android OS at that, it would make only but sense to use the same service for my device. I do hope for you guys to dive into this market as well as the choices is not too deep yet.

any news on the Android avast version? I look forward to avast for Android for my Nexus One with Gingerbread 2.3.5!
