Avast for full system scan only

I have turned off all of the “Shields” in avast preferences, but there are still processes like com.avast.fileshield and com.avast.proxy that seem like they are related to those shields. Is it possible to only have Avast run when I launch it and not leave all these processes alive?

Why installing security software and then turn it off ?
That doesn’t make sense.

I don’t care about anything but the full system scan. I have different software for the other features and don’t want tons of processes running all the time.

Unless I get better advice, I’ll just install, scan, uninstall.

Why not use a online scanner?

Usually, the services are still kept running up in case you need to do a quick start. If you want to have a scanner for viruses, you don’t need a third party app for it. If you have Windows 10, natively Windows Defender is quite a reliable anti-virus. If you are running Mac, it has a couple of layers of protection by default. For manual scans, you should probably install anti-malware software, and you should be good to go. Won’t be necessary to install all of the services.

I completely agree? Why would you turn it off?

Unless I get better advice, I'll just install, scan, uninstall.
And you will be left with a lot of remnants. What the heck are you doing with all that other security software if you need avast for a full scan ? Sounds to me you want to protect your system but haven't got a clue on how to do it properly.
