Avast for phones?

I think we should have an avast! for phones…

An idea that popped up into my mind when using Kaspersky for mobile.

Since there’s a lot of spam and more and more viruses for mobile phones (especially for iPhones) then it would be a really good idea to have and avast for mobile.

I know, you can criticise the idea, but then again: why not?

As of late the most popular target for malware creators is Android (not iPhone). And it is known that Avast is working on an Android version

I see.
I think it’s the apps that are causing the problem, aren’t they?

Yes it seems that apps are being repackaged to contain malware and being redistributed as a clone of the original. There was a good post on the Avast Blog of one such example:

Well a smart phone without apps is just a phone ;D

I’ve got one of those dumb phones and until security is much better and there is supporting security software; no smart phone for me, too much hassle should they get infected I think.

Agreed.
Whilst smartphones are a clever little gadget to have, sometimes it makes me think what really phones were created for: apps, or for making calls?

Heh.

I can make calls just fine, but I do miss the old days where there was no required Data Plan. $45 for mobile data is almost as much as I pay for my Cable Connection at home

Yeah… :frowning:
I also remember when the first mobile phones had a green screen and were quite heavy…and when my family had the first ever Nokia with a camera, (we were such show-offs) somebody stole it from us
